Team Baby Alex Foundation

In order to raise funds and bring attention to the cause, Team Baby Alex Foundation races in endurance multisport competitions. Team BAF has competed in such events as the Chesapeake Bay 4.4 Mile Swim, Ironman Lake Placid, Ironman Florida, and the Vermont 50 Miler. Members of the team seek sponsorship for events and have raised over $5,300. In addition, The Baby Alex Foundation sponsors a booth at several major events each year. Please stop by and say, "hello," if you happen to see any of us at an upcoming event.

If you are an endurance athlete and would like to join the Team Baby Alex Foundation as a full-time member or even just as an honorary member for a single race, please click on the "Join" link in the left menu. To sponsor a current team member, click on "Sponsor an Athlete."

Team Baby Alex in Jerusalem

Congratulations to Team runners Kevin Chalker, Paul Packer, Bob Reilly, Neal Sprafkin and Lisa Yaffe for running in the Inaugural Jerusalem Marathon and 10K. Everyone finished their races and had a wonderful time seeing sights and traveling around Jerusalem. Thank you to our generous donor who made it all possible! And thank you to all of the donors who contributed to Neal and Lisa's First Giving page--you all help us make the research possible.

Team Baby Alex Foundation Hires New Coach

Matt Giunta on Bike In the fall of 2009, USAT coach Matt Giunta signed on as the team's official coach. Matt is a passionate endurance athlete, teacher, engineer, and USAT Certified Coach. His journey into the world of multisport started over 10 years ago when Speedo briefs and 650c wheels were en vogue. Since then, Matt has raced in dozens of endurance events covering all distances. As a graduate student at CU-Boulder, he logged countless miles in the Rocky Mountains, sometimes tagging along with the pros on their training rides. As a self-coached athlete and endurance junkie, he lowered his Ironman PR from 12:35 to 10:46. Now an experienced full-time coach and 8-time Ironman finisher on a quest for Kona, Matt enjoys helping athletes across the ability spectrum achieve new levels of performance. Matt is a professional student of the sport, employing the latest training methods and advanced technology to get results. Team Baby Alex Foundation is honored to have Matt at its helm.

In addition to monthly coaching tips, Matt will lead the Team Baby Alex Foundation multisport 4-day training camp that is held each August in New Hampshire. To be part of this camp, all athletes must be official Team Baby Alex Foundation members. For more information about joining the team and attending the camp, contact Nicky at the Foundation office: 203-283-3715.
